Compliance with Fire Safety Regulations in Construction
On July 27, the workshop titled "Implementing QCVN 06:2022/BXD Standards for Residential and Building Construction" was held at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture. The event was organized by the Vietnam Institute for Building Materials (Ministry of Construction), in collaboration with the Department of Science, Technology & Environment (Ministry of Construction) and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture. The workshop attracted a large number of experts, businesses, and managers in the construction field.
Dr. Le Minh Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology & Environment (Ministry of Construction), inaugurated the workshop, emphasizing the importance of updating and complying with fire safety regulations in construction. He particularly highlighted the significant amendments in version 1:2023 of QCVN 06:2022/BXD, which clarify the regulations and provide more effective solutions without compromising fire safety requirements.
According to Dr. Le Minh Long, the amendments in version 1:2023 of QCVN 06:2022/BXD involve significant changes in the standards, especially regarding the classification of buildings based on fire and explosion hazard levels, the selection of appropriate fire prevention and fighting materials and equipment, as well as effective fire prevention measures.
"High-rise buildings in major cities today need proposals for solutions to improve fire prevention and firefighting efficiency," shared Dr. Le Minh Long.
Discussing fire safety factors in construction, experts at the workshop emphasized the importance of technical elements, materials, design, and management affecting fire safety during the construction of buildings.
In addition, at the seminar, investors, construction companies, contractors, and other stakeholders shared the difficulties and obstacles they faced in implementing QCVN 06:2022/BXD standards and sought solutions to overcome and resolve these issues.
The Importance of Adhering to Fire Safety Regulations in Construction
Adherence to fire safety regulations in construction is an essential issue that cannot be overlooked. Strict compliance with fire prevention and fighting (FPF) regulations not only protects human lives but also helps to minimize property damage, ensuring the sustainable and safe development of construction projects.
Firstly, fire safety regulations in construction help reduce the risk of fire and explosion, preventing severe consequences for both the users of the building and the rescue forces. These FPF regulations include requirements for non-combustible building materials, the design of escape routes, fire alarm systems, fire fighting systems, prevention procedures, and emergency response training. By fully complying with these regulations, the risk of fire and explosion is maximally controlled, enabling residents and rescue personnel to quickly respond and evacuate safely.
Moreover, adherence to fire safety regulations in construction helps minimize property and economic losses. A fire in a construction project can cause significant material damage, threatening business operations and the livelihoods of many families. Investing in FPF efforts reduces financial risks and protects the assets of individuals, businesses, and state budgets allocated for rescue operations and disaster recovery.
Additionally, compliance with fire safety regulations is a mandatory requirement in the construction and operational licensing process for buildings. Non-compliance, such as lacking a fire safety certificate, can lead to administrative penalties and even criminal liability in the event of an unfortunate incident. Therefore, adhering to FPF regulations not only provides safety benefits but also ensures the legality and credibility of construction projects.
Explosive-Proof Electrical Equipment Solutions in Construction Safety
Ms. Nguyen Vu Quynh Nguyen, General Director of DPKT Technologies, provided professional analysis on international and Vietnamese fire safety standards, particularly for high-risk projects (classified as A and B according to QCVN 06:2022/BXD). She also presented solutions for explosive-proof electrical equipment.
Nguyen emphasized that "Selecting and installing electrical equipment that does not meet standards is one of the leading causes of serious fire and explosion incidents in industrial buildings. Therefore, equipping standard-compliant explosive-proof electrical devices is a crucial factor in ensuring compliance with regulations, reducing risks, and ensuring the safety of people and property."
DPKT Technologies, with its experience and reputation in the field of explosive-proof electrical equipment, introduced advanced product lines meeting the most stringent fire safety standards such as IECEx, ATEX, and equivalent Vietnamese standards. These products include explosive-proof lighting systems, explosive-proof sockets and plugs, junction boxes, switchgear, AI thermal cameras, air conditioners, electrical cabinets, and smart control systems (SCS), all adhering to international and Vietnamese explosive-proof standards.
In addition to providing products, DPKT Technologies offers comprehensive solutions including consultation, design, installation, and maintenance of explosive-proof electrical and lighting systems, helping investors and contractors optimize investment efficiency and ensure absolute safety for projects.
The display of DPKT Technologies' solutions received great interest and high evaluation from seminar attendees. Many technical questions were raised and thoroughly answered by DPKT, contributing to the enhanced understanding and awareness of the importance of using explosive-proof electrical equipment in high-risk fire and explosion projects.
According to Ths. Nguyen Vu Quynh Nguyen, General Director of DPKT Technologies, the practical experiences and successful projects of DPKT Technologies in providing explosive-proof electrical solutions for the oil and gas, chemical, energy industries, and industrial facilities with high fire safety requirements were shared. These solutions not only effectively prevent fires and explosions but also ensure the continuity of production and business operations.
"The selection and installation of electrical equipment that does not meet standards is one of the leading causes of serious fires and explosions in industrial facilities. Therefore, equipping standard-compliant explosive-proof electrical devices is crucial to ensuring compliance with regulations and technical standards, reducing risks, and ensuring the safety of people and property," emphasized Ths.
